The following was submitted by Chuck Z, following a thread on Elder Gods:
>What story? There is no reference to either a cavern or Antarctica in Smith's story "Ubbo-Sathla" (Weird Tales, July 1933).
I think (?) it's in the story "Arctic Stone" by Ross ? Bagby (Eldritch Tales 7, 1980) : did have a copy somewhere...
28. Ross F. Bagby, "The Arctic Stone", Eldritch Tales, No. 7, June
Mentions Cthulhu; Dagon; Daoth-Yhol.
Probably a Lin Carter interpolation.
"Ubbo-Sathla, ye source and ye end lay confined forever at ye subterranean place referred to only as "gray-litten Y'qaa," beneath ancient Hyperborea."
-.. I don't know where he gets his source but the site is pretty good.
According to http://www.oceanstar.com/cas/cjetext.htm....
Ubbo-Sathla shows up, in addition to the title story, in "The Descent Into the Abyss," by Clark Ashton Smith and Lin Carter; also "The Unbegotten Source" by Lin Carter; and "Papyrus of the Dark Wisdom," by Clark Ashton Smith and Lin Carter. There may be more cross-references there.
